[Note: I'm working on getting photos of the ladies! I know this post needs them!]
New York Social Diary has posted a list of the women it believes may be our next walking trainwrecks, aka the cast of Bravo’s recently announced Real Housewives of DC. Let’s put on our Google thinking caps and dig up some info:
1. Mai Abdo
The first Asian housewife! She is the wife of developer Jim Abdo. Their country house, described as “70 acres of heaven,” was featured in The New York Times last year, an accomplishment for any social climber from any city. Donated $2,000 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign in 2006. Their gorgeous 1920s Washington D.C. former embassy house has also been featured on design blogs. Like all Real Housewives, her favorite place to shop is Intermix. She was nominated as one of Washington’s Best Dressed Women by Washingtonian.Com.
2. Mary Schmidt Amons
Founder of Labels for Love, a charity that produces “fashionable events” to raise money for different charities. Claims to love Forever 21, which hopefully will translate into some wonderful outfits on the show. Her Google juice is almost entirely related to her participation in the show, although she has been photographed on New York Social Diary. She also attended the Ted Gibson Salon opening with another rumored cast-member Micahele Salahi, where Gibson straight up told Politico that Bravo was there filming the party, so it can probably be safely said that at least two of the women on this list are on the cast.
3. Lynda Erkiletian
President of “The Artists Agency” a modeling agency representing “over 500″ models and stylists in DC. Has appeared in party photographs in Washington Life magazine dating to 2006, so she may have some true society prowess. Donated money to the Bush/Cheney campaign in 2004. I found the following YouTube video of her explaining her agency. She looks very reminiscent of an older Danielle Staub:
4. Michaele Salahi
The token blonde and wife of Oasis Winery owner Tareq Salahi. Apparently a customer of Ted Gibson Salon. Owner of America’s Polo Cup. A big camera crew were hand documenting the DC Polo Fall Classic, fueling the rumors that Michaela is part of the cast. Photos of her and her husband in Washington Life magazine date back to 2004, so these ain’t no Johnny Come Latelys. In a 2008 interview with Washingtonian, she is also listed as “makeup consultant” and describes her style as “classic and feminine.” Best of all, she’s already on Twitter!
5. Lisa Wernick Spies
Wife of Republican fundraiser and attorney Charlie Spies, who was Mitt Romney’s campaign CFO. I can find virtually nothing on her, except her husband wrote a column for The Daily Beast once. Washington Social Diary reports that she herself is a fundraiser and is organizing an event for women sponsored by the Republican Jewish Coalition.
Here’s what I’m thinking: Salahi will be the Queen Bee. Wernick Spies will be the most desperate social climber. Mary Amons already has some cred, since she runs a charity. Lynda may be the Wild Card. Abdo beats them all for having already made it into the New York Times style section. The most dissappointing thing about this cast is where’s the color? D.C. has a substantial African-American population, and with Obama in office, the producers could at least have tried to make it more diverse. However, given the mess in Atlanta, perhaps some of D.C.’s elite did not want to be associated with the trashy franchise.
