New Yorker Festival Tickets On Sale

Everyone’s favorite snooty magazine, The New Yorker, is having its annual festival, chock-full of author readings, interesting interviews, concerts, and more. It’s going down October 16-18, 2009. You can see the full schedule here, but here are details about the musical happenings:

  • A Special Concert Featuring Bands from the County of Kings, with Dirty Projectors, House of Ladosha, Jubilee, and Liturgy. Curated by the New Yorker staff writers Sasha Frere-Jones and Kelefa Sanneh. It’s at The Bell House on October 16 at 8 pm. Tickets.
  • Loudon Wainwright III talks with Susan Morrison: A Conversation with Music. This goes down at The Bell House on October 17 at 7:30 pm. Tickets.
  • Ian Hunter and Graham Parker talk with Ben Greenman: A Conversation with Music. Ian Hunter was the lead singer of Mott the Hoople and Graham Parker was the frontman for New Wave band Graham Parker & The Rumour. This is happening at (le) Poisson Rouge on October 17 at 7:30 pm. Tickets
  • Neko Case talks with Sasha Frere-Jones: A Conversation with Music. This is going down at Acura at Stage37, 508 West 37th Street on October 17 at 7:30 pm. Tickets.
  • Steve Earle talks with John Seabrook: A Conversation with Music. Steve Earle is a “hardcore troubador” who is also an author and actor who appeared on the HBO series The Wire (best show ever!). He recently released an album called Townes, which is all Townes Van Zandt covers. He’s at (le) Poisson Rouge on October 17 at 10 pm. Tickets.
  • Justin Vernon of Bon Iver talks with Sasha Frere- Jones: A Conversation with Music. This is happening at Acura at Stage37, 508 West 37th Street on October 17 at 10 pm. Tickets.
  • Radical Opera With Lisa Bielawa, Nico Muhly, Peter Sellars, and Rufus Wainwright. Moderated by Alex Ross. This is at City Winery on October 18 at 3 pm. Tickets.
