Oh. My. Gosh. How does Kanye West always find a way to make the headlines? Tonight, the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards aired and everyone showed up looking beautiful and fabulous. A lovely tribute to Michael Jackson was held to kick off the show, causing people to clap and cry. It was an emotional beginning.
Country cutie, Taylor Swift was crying as well, but unfortunately, it wasn’t in celebration for the music of the King of Pop, rather it was pure tears after being completely humiliated on stage. Taylor Lautner and Shakira presented the award for Best Female Video and among them nominated was Beyoncé, for “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It)” and Taylor Swift for her song “You Belong With Me.”
The award ended up going to Taylor, who then got up and gave heart warming speech about how she was thankful to have won a VMA Award, despite her country-singing roots. Then, all hell breaks loose. Kanye West gets on stage and publically humiliates Taylor by taking her microphone from her, and going off about how Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time – all this during her acceptance speech!
My heart absolutely broke for the poor girl. In all honesty, I felt Beyoncé should have won in this category. These past few months the “Single Ladies” video has gotten so extremely and unbelievably popular. But, really, Kanye? Again. This is not the first time that Kanye has doen a drive by attack on stage and soon enough he’s going to need to be banished from the awards if he can’t keep it together.
Taylor Swift is just 19-years-old and is just starting out in music. He acted like a straight out bully. He had no right to get up there and steal her moment. Taylor’s music video is actually pretty sweet, by the way (check it out here). What do you guys think?
