Sorry this interview is late! I’ll be more on the ball next week! Last week, I interviewed California girl Natalie Pack, who was eliminated in the latest episode of America’s Next Top Model for not being inspiring. We talked about her surprise elimination, what Brazil was like, who she wants to win the competition and more!

How did you get involved with Top Model?
I always wanted to be model. People are constantly coming up to me to tell me I should be a model or ask if I am a model. When they advertised for Cycle 12 casting, I went online and applied. I got a call and made it on the show.
Were you surprised by your elimination?
Oh my god, yes! I was completely shocked. It was the best ever feedback I had gotten from Jay and I left the photo shoot feeling really confident. I thought I was totally fine. I was even like “I’m so not going home.” And then, I ended up going home. I was like “what?” I didn’t understand why the judges didn’t like my pictures. Don’t the judges communicate with Jay about the photo shoot? That was confusing. I think Tyra was out for something. I don’t know what she meant by the fact I’m, not inspiring. Tyra can pick whatever photo she wants. Who knows if she’s picking the best one? Plus, they want us to show our personalities but didn’t let us talk. You can’t win with them. I know talking back was a mistake, but what was I supposed to do? Defy Jay at the photo shoot and make that relationship uncomfortable? Or speak up at panel and get that kind of treatment from Tyra and Nigel? The show is…shady almost. You never know their intentions. They edited me to look like something I’m not. I have mixed feelings about it.
Do you think the show portrayed you accurately?
Yes! That girl on the show is so not me. Now, everyone who watched the show thinks I’m a snobby, whiny, spoiled brat. It’s so unfair. It’s not what I am. I’m not snobby. I’m down to earth. I’m not even wealthy. I said I’d never work – doesn’t every 18 year old say that? It’s was completely taken out of context. I’m focusing on school and trying to transfer to UCLA and don’t have time to work. That’s what I meant by that statement. It’s unfair they labeled me as rich and snobby. Everything I said was edited to make me sound, act and look worse than I am. I was unfairly portrayed. It was cut and pasted to make me seem snobby. The show was desperate and they struggled to make me look spoiled. But people are believing it and that’s difficult to deal with.
Are you still planning on pursuing modeling?
Modeling is definitely what I want to do. It’s my love and my passion. The show gave me a bad rap, but that’s not who I am. Before the show, I had great relationships with agencies and photographers I had worked with. Now I’ll have to overcome this reputation. Exposure is a great thing when you’re new in modeling. It’s important to have a familiar face. I want to have a successful career. But they say all publicity is good publicity, so I need to turn this into a positive
Who should have been eliminated instead of you?
I had never been in the bottom two before and before that panel had only been in the bottom three once. Aminat had been in the bottom two two previous times. She was even in the bottom two the week before! She’s gotten three chances and I just think it’s really unfair she got three and I got zero. The judges hated her picture. Jay hated her picture. It was unjust and unfair and I have no idea why Tyra made that decision.
What was it like being in Brazil?
That was so funny. I love Brazil. It was amazing and Sao Paulo is so cool. It’s a huge city. I’m a Cali girl and while New York was amazing, the cold weather was starting to get to me. It was great to be in the sun and heat again. I made that one comment about the gardens that helped that whole “spoiled brat” thing. But, again, it was taken out of context. I wasn’t focusing on Brazil, I was focusing on the show. But they managed to edit it to make me seem like I was a privileged rich girl who was too god for Brazil. We went straight from the airport to the navigation challenge to the hotel room and we weren’t give the chance to really see or appreciate it.
Which photo shoot was your favorite?
Definitely the one in Brazil. Brazil was so exciting and colorful and had so much life and energy! I vibed off it and it was so much fun to shoot with all those kids around.
What about the comment you made about the poverty in the area?
That exact statement was cut and pasted together. Listen to the clip. They took “I’m shocked” and spliced it together with “this is a very poor area.” It was a poor area, I’m not denying that. But I did not respond to it they way they showed. My mom and I looked at each other after that and were just like “Oh my god! How terrible!”
Can you explain what happened during the makeover?
It’s actually a funny story. I was sitting there for nine hours watching everyone else get their makeovers. The entire time, the Jays and the hair stylist were joking they were going to cut all my hair off. When it came my turn, the hair stylist came up to me and pushed my head down and would not let go! He kept pretending to chop my hair like he was going to hack it all off! I asked to breathe and he kept pushing my head. They also had fake hair they kept dropping on the floor. They didn’t show me laughing and joking. They just showed me complaining. However, it’s natural for anyone to be nervous about and possibly freak out over change. I would have dealt with my makeover and made it work for me, but the initial shock of having no hair and not having any idea what my new hair was going to look like was traumatic. Anyone would freak out over that.
Who would you like to see win the competition?
Definitely Allison. She’s gorgeous, just one look at her and you think “model.” She has a look that’s very original and fresh and no one has ever seen before. She deserves to win this. Teyona is a good model and has been very strong throughout the competition but doesn’t being anything fresh and new to the table.
What did you do during your down time at the house?
We drew lots of pictures. I’m artistic love to draw. I did a lot of drawing and painting. London was my best friend in the house so we talked a lot. There wasn’t much to do. We couldn’t even open a window. I cooked a lot. I loved cooking. So it was a lot of cooking and drawing and just killing time.
What did you think about Celia’s confrontation at panel?
We had all been talking about it earlier. We agreed that if Tahlia wanted to go home, she should. That was not a house secret. But then, at panel, I saw Celia go up and I was like “whoa!” What she said was right, but it wasn’t at the right time. The judges should know about Tahlia’s attitude and how she felt about the competition. I do stand by Celia and what she said, but it wasn’t the right time at all. Tyra had already made her decision. It wasn’t a good situation.
Thanks for talking with us today!
