T-Boz Gives Her Opinion on Kelly Rowland Firing Matthew Knowles

Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins, member of former girl group TLC, had some rough things to say about Destiny’s Child and the Matthew Knowles manager situation. She spoke to BlackVoices.com recently when they asked her about what she thinks about Kelly firing Matthew Knowles. I’ve got a few parts of the interview here.

She says, “They get mad when I say this, but I don’t give a damn. It was all about Beyonce anyway. She was my favorite, too, but come on. Her parents are over everything. Who do you think they were going for? It’s always Beyonce. It was supposed to be exactly the way it is now, Bey is on top.”

“I love Beyonce, and I am a fan of hers. She was my favorite in the group even before they were Destiny’s Child and they were the Baby Dolls. She was so cute and pretty. I like all of them, and I wish Kelly the best.”

“That would have been a hard group for me to be in, because I would have been like your mommy and daddy are running things and they’re gonna have you at heart the most. That’s just how I feel.”

Sheesh. Sadly, I agree. I would not have wanted to be a member of Destiny’s Child just because I know that if I had disagreed with Beyoncé and her parents, I would have been completely ignored and overthrown.

well I coudn’t disagree with her more! who the hell woudn’t want to be a member of Detiny’s Child?!! that’s the best selling group in HISTORY! Mattew have been a very good manager to the girls since they are a part of history now! & let’s not forget that Beyonce was the LEADER of the group so it’s only normal that she get’s the most spotlight! what people have a probleme with is the fact that only Beyonce have been able to have a successfull solo career, & who do we blame? we blame her father, truth be told Kelly & Michelle are very talented but they would never get on Beyonce’s level, Bey had to work really hard to get where she’s at today & she completely deserve everything she has, Mattew didn’t get Bey where she is, he only helped her a little but it’s all her! the others, well they didn’t work as hard as Bey did! I’m sorry but they didn’t! people say why can’t Mattew put Kelly on this show, well he probably try but the show didn’t want her because the viewers didn’t want her! there is nothing Mattew can do then, exept tell the show to put on Kelly & they would get Bey as a reward (think BET 2007)!
so you got Kelly who is a dark skined girl & it’s hard to make it in the industry that way & you got Michelle who’s a little old & not sexy so she won’t make it! if these two girl didn’t make it, it’s not bc of Mattew or Beyonce, is because of the public who just doesn’t give a damn about theme! I dare T-Boz to show me the CDs of Kelly & Michelle that she bought if she REALLY cares about theme! Mattew is not supermen!

sorry for the long comment but this thing really bothers me, I love Kelly & Michelle, they deserve to have successfull careers but let’s not blame Beyonce or her father for something they have no control over, if people really cared about Kelly & Michelle they would buy their CDs & they would look for thier news & they would watch their performances but sadly people only care about theme when Beyonce is involed & Mattew can’t make people care, & awards shows & TV programes won’t support these two girls if the people don’t care about theme, that’s how it is, period.

I agree with you H.C, I love Kelly and Michelle too! My comment is in NO WAY a diss to them, because I’m a true DC fan. I just feel that Beyonce gets blamed for everything and anything.. If you look at all the lead singers…Michael Jackson, Omarion, Diana Ross, Patti Labelle, Nicole (PCD) etc.. You will see that they all get the main focus in their group…Its not Beyonce’s fault that people fall in love with the lead singers. She shouldn’t have to dim her light in order for others to shine.

Ya’ll calm down and re-read… You’re arguing a separate point entirely.

When you’re in a group that’s managed BY the leader’s parents you will deal with something called nepotism, favoritism and self-interest. Can’t expect to be taken into much consideration. You can’t trust your ‘managers’ to be impartial because they will always have their own child’s interests in the backs of their mind.

I’ll admit, LeToya is tone-deaf but that doesn’t mean that she can’t sing (just can’t stay on key, lol). Kelly acts as if she’s half-scared to sing at times.

However, back in the day? Beyonce had the best vocals…? Bullshyt — I can sang and *I* could’ve contended w/Beyonce at that point in time. Now? Not so much…lol.
The bulk of the group was equally matched in vocal ability. They were equal in beauty and Beyonce sure as hell didn’t have the best body…the thick chocolate sista did.
To her credit Beyonce’s drive and motivation made her what she is today.
Her ‘skills’ came with time and MUCH training. It’s admirable.

What’s done is done, It’s whatever. But truth is truth and Destiny’s Child was little more than a springboard for BEYONCE’S success. To hell with the rest of the group…
I never understood why her father just didn’t market her as a solo entertainer…but he did it the smart way. At the expense of the careers and dreams of other people…but he did it the smart way.
Beyonce was the one who was continuously thrust towards the front. If you couldn’t see if for what it was then you are blind, new fans…or too young to remember.
