Sammi Hanratty can been seen playing the adorable lead character in An American Girl: Chrissa Stands Strong, which is now available on DVD. Hollywood Teen’Zine recently chatted with Sammi about her role and becoming an actress.

Sammi says she was a fan of the American Girl dolls before landing the part. “I love the idea of having the dolls of the characters in the books. It’s learning valuable lessons and about our history in a fun way.

Her character, Chrissa, moves to a new town and starts a new school. “She tries making new friends, but instead gets bullied by the “mean bees”. Chrissa has to find the strength and courage to stand up to the bullies.” Can Sammi relate? “Both of us stand up for ourselves and our friends. We also both love animals and swimming too!

One actress that Sammi hopes to work with is Amanda Bynes! “She seems really nice and down to earth and I love her acting.

Sammi is working on a lot of projects… “I have a movie coming out in November. It’s a Robert Zemeckis film, ‘A Christmas Carol’ starring Jim Carrey, Colin Firth, and Robin Wright-Penn. I can also be seen recurring on two tv shows. I play Jen Gerhardt on ‘The Unit’ and Young Chuck on ‘Pushing Daisies’.

Great movie! Sammi did a great job in acting as Chrissa Maxwell. Adair Tishler was also good in her role too! I <3 Chrissa because we were both bullied in 4th grade and we have the same looks! :)
