Sam Neill (“The Tudors,” “Jurassic Park”), Sean Bean (“The Lord of the Rings”) and Joss Ackland (“Lethal Weapon 2”) will join the cast of NBC’s new fall island adventure series Crusoe, an epic take on Daniel Defoe’s legendary tale.
The series begins with the resourceful Crusoe (Philip Winchester, “Thunderbirds”) after many years of being a castaway on a desert island with his companion Friday (not cast yet). Written by Stephen Gallagher (“Eleventh Hour”) and directed by Duane Clark (“CSI: NY”), Crusoe follows the adventures of two island dwellers while looking in flashbacks at Crusoe’s life before he was thrown into isolation filled with danger and adventure.
Among those flashbacks are his tragic childhood with widower father James (Bean), the love of his life Susannah (Anna Walton, “Hell Boy: The Golden Army”) and family friend Jeremiah Blackthorn (Neill), who was helping him build his business empire. While dealing with life on the island, he dreams of one day being united with his family and loved ones.
Due to film in the United Kingdom, South Africa and the Seychelles, Crusoe is advertised as a distinctive daring story, laced with humor and action.
